Blackerby Violin Shop's rental program allows you to rent high quality instruments at affordable rates. We source our rental outfits from the most trusted manufacturers of student instruments available.

Start Your Rental Contract
Once we’ve matched you with an instrument, we’ll need you to fill out our rental agreement and we’ll input your information into our system.
Accrue Rental Credit for Purchase
For every rental period that passes (monthly or yearly), half of your rental fee will go toward rental credit. You can build up rental credit, and eventually use it to purchase a like instrument in store!
Size Up Your Instrument as Needed
As time passes, you may find you’ve grown out of your rental instrument and need to size up. Come into shop and we’ll swap out your instrument for the next size up at no additional charge.
What’s Included in Your Rental?
Your rental will come with a complete outfit, including an instrument, case, and if applicable a bow and rosin. The only thing you’ll need to buy is an accompanying shoulder rest (Violin and Viola) or rock stop (Cello and Bass).

Our Protege rentals are perfect for beginners and those looking for a great sounding instrument at an affordable price. These instruments are outfitted with student-level strings and a fiberglass bow.
Artist Rental
Our Artist rentals are ideal for advanced players and those seeking a superior sound. These instruments are outfitted with upgraded strings, case, and a wood bow.

Rental fees are automatically charged to your card once every rental period. The definition of monthly and yearly rental periods are as follows:
if you start a monthly rental August 9th 2023, your next payment is September 9th 2023
If you start a yearly rental August 9th 2023, your next payment is August 9th 2024
Monthly rentals require a deposit which is fully refundable upon instrument return, and have a minimum rental period of 3 months. Yearly rentals come with 2 months free, but cannot not be refunded for early returns.

What does the Rental Protection Plan Cover?
The Rental Protection Plan guards against liability for damage or theft of a rental outfit. This ensures the renter is not liable for the full value of the instrument should something unfortunate occur.
In the event of damage, you will be charged a copay based on the type and level of your rental. Damage that can be repaired back to rentable condition is considered “repairable”. Damage that is not repairable, as well as loss and theft, are considered “Non-Repairable”.
Renters with the protection plan also enjoy select maintenance tasks/rental part replacements free of charge.

EXCEPTIONS TO COVERAGE
Coverage is void if your:
Account is not current on rental payments
Instrument has been checked into stow-away luggage on an airplane (carry-on is permissible)
Instrument is taken outside the continental United States
Instrument has repairs or adjustments made at another shop, or by someone other than a Blackerby staff member
Blackerby Violin Shop will not reimburse renters for any repair work done at another shop
